Timbuk2 Nightrider Messenger

A community-inspired messenger that gives you maximum visibility on-bike – www.timbuk2.com Inspired by two cyclist’s and the Bay Bridge rumble strips, the Nightrider Messenger gives you maximum visibility on-bike. The Nightrider began in 2008 when Timbuk2 employee Ryan Henebest had the team sew reflective fabric onto the bottom of his messenger to make him more visible while riding. In 2009, an epic crash on San Francisco’s Bay Bridge caused CalTrans to install rumble strips on the road to slow drivers, which inspired us to add rumble strips to a *messenger* to slow drivers. Finally, in May 2011, Timbuk2 fan Nadia Korovina shared a photo of her Timbuk2 hack; she’d sewn reflective fabric to the flap of her messenger. We combined Ryan and Nadia’s hacks with the Bay Bridge rumble strips idea and wallah! We created the Nightrider Messenger. Inspired by you, made in San Francisco.

@ckpeony does it need batteries to emit light or is it just reflecting from a light source?

  6. ckpeony says:

@goose0139 it doesn’t emit light, and thus doesn’t? need batteries. just regular reflective panels. hope that helps!
